Why do folks drive to Watsonville from miles around to dine at The Fish House Bar & Grill? There are certainly plenty of options from Santa Cruz to Monterey, but Owner/Chef Sal Zavala offers fresh, savory seafood and other fare that has made The Fish House destination dining well worth the drive!

Sal spent his teenage years in Monterey. He was fortunate to have some serious seafood chefs as good friends there who taught him much of what he knows about what makes seafood great. Sal worked his way through the ranks, from a dishwasher at the Monterey Fish House to executive chef at various Monterey area restaurants.. in 2013, Sal opened The Fish House Bar & Grill in Watsonville.

Meet our Head Chef, Joel Velasquez

As proud supporters of local farms, we pair our fresh, flavorful dishes with handcrafted cocktails and a curated selection of local draft beers from nearby breweries. In addition, we offer pasta trays, event catering, and host special events to make every occasion memorable. Sal's nephew, Joel Velasquez, is the Head Chef at The Fish House Bar & Grill. Joel was trained extensively in the seafood arts over the years by a handful of mentors, and now adds a bit of his own flair to each savory seafood delights!
